Stressful conditions.
It won’t need us to tell you that on occasions life can be very stressful indeed. However there is very often a strange
symmetry to this stress and you will find that circumstances that on occasions will drive you to the very brink will at others pass you by barely noticed. It all goes
to show that there’s more than a grain of truth to the idea that stress is an outside influence independent of our personal circumstances - a little like hot or cold weather.
When it comes to peoples moods and outside influence there is no doubt that the prime influencing factors are the Sun and the Moon. These exert a determining effect on
every aspect of our lives and if it wasn’t for the Sun we wouldn’t have life at all.
Moon phases are crucial.
However the number one source of emotional influence is undoubtedly the Moon. So if you’re looking for times of
heightened moods and emotions look no further than the Moon phases. These are published each day in the Mood Alert. You’ll find that high stress and anxiety usually peak
twice a month around the time of the Full and New Moon. But its not just these two days that need attention, its the three or four days in the lead up and usually two or three
days afterwards that require careful handling. That means that during the course of the average month approximately two weeks will be filled with high Moon tension. This can be
even further heightened by planetary alignments so there may be little recovery between the Full and New Moon, thus contributing to what sometimes feels like a long
unbroken seam of highly stressful days.
Earthquake connection.
While Full Moons are definitely more stressful than the New Moon the later can sometimes go to extremes and its
no coincidence that of the ten largest earthquakes to hit the planet in the last 100 years, no fewer than eight had a definite New Moon connection.
Emotional doldrums period.
When the Moon is at around 45% illumination another phenomenon can occur - the equivalent of the emotional
doldrums. Different people respond differently but this can be a time of feeling low and depressed, or bored and uninspired. Some may simply find it a time to relax and
catch up on some rest. This period usually only lasts for around two or three days and occurs twice a month.
Moon aspects.
What really gives a heightened edge to every kind of emotion is the way the Moon aspects with the planets. The
Moon is fast moving to the background of the planets and any atmosphere generated will be limited to no more than a day or two at the most. This can create sudden pulses of
joy and happiness, but also stress of an unbelievable nature as when the Moon aligns with Mars. So if you have a sudden but short lived burst of any particular emotion this
is usually the reason. But Moon aspects with the planets are certainly nothing rare. The average month will contain around 16 direct alignments so it pays to know their
respective properties and the time of their occurrence. See below for the full list of Full and New Moons for 2006 or see our special page for all the alignments for 3006

Uranus and Mars alignments.
As well as the better known periods of tension around the time of the Full Moon and New Moon there is always likely
to be extreme tension when the Moon aligns with either Uranus or Mars. Hence we have included a special chart below to show when these periods occur.
No two days the same.
What should be stressed is that although we can broadly categorise moods and emotions and how they effect us,
no two days will ever be the same because each has its unique influencing factors that may never repeat themselves exactly. That’s why no two Full Moon
atmospheres will be the same. Nearly all will bring sharply heightened emotions but the exact influences can differ quite considerably. It shows that when we speak of
celestial influence the effects can be as apparently limitless as the domain of space itself.
